Mark Pernice is a distinguished New York-based illustrator, art director, and designer, with a degree from the School of Visual Arts (SVA). His career has been marked working alongside some of the most influential figures in the design world, including luminaries such as Stefan Sagmeister and Pentagram’s Paula Scher.
In 2023, Mark was entrusted with the creation of five intricate artworks depicting carnivorous plants, which were prominently featured at the New York Public Library, a National Historic Landmark, during the special exhibit “Charles Darwin: A Life in Letters.”
Mark’s illustration work has garnered significant recognition, including the coveted 60th Anniversary Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators in 2018. The self-published photo book 2005 was shortlisted for the Anamorphis Prize and secured a place in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). His diverse body of work has been highlighted by The New York Times, It’s Nice That, American Illustration, AIGA, Print, FPO Awards, Wired, BuzzFeed, The Atlantic, Fast Company, Gizmodo, Communication Arts, and Graphis.
Mark has shared his insights at various events and institutions, such as the Columbus Society of Communication Arts, Pratt Institute, MICA, FIT, and Hush Creative.
In addition to his illustration, Mark co-directs the multidisciplinary design studio OOO, alongside his creative partner, Elana Schlenker, where they continue to push design innovations.
